Journey to Nelson 2

I'm back here again... haha... miss me? =P we stayed one night in Picton... only one night which costs 25 bucks... not a bad deal... and the room's warm and nice too... soli no pictures of my room... cuz u know la... guys' room mar... hehe... no worries, we didn't anyhow hang our undies anywhr la... haha... oops~ anw, the next day, we planned a whole day wine tasting trip!! yay!! i like wine... 79 bucks... not a bad deal...This is me standing outside the backpackers' hostel all set for the day... we waved goodbye to Picton and drove back to Bleinheim to start our tour...Nice scenery along the way... i think Angeline took it... she seriously got some skills... haha... about one hour later, we reached Bleinheim and together with our tour guide, Paul with another couple on their honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Hayden, we sit a mini bus around the place... Marlborough, the place we're at has actually some of New Zealand's most prominent wineries... such as Drylands, Cloudy Bay, Forrest Estate etc etc.... First stop, Drylands winery...They greeted us with some dry riesling... followed by riesling and chardonnay and pinot noir as well as syrah or shiraz as some would call it... those funny funny names are actually the name of the grapes used to make it la... haha.. if not mistaken la... i personally like the one in the middle, the riesling... it has a fruity smell and tasted quite nice too...This one lei.... is dangerous... haha... y izit dangerous?? apart frm being relatively expensive, it tastes sweet... and wat happens when u drink sweet stuff? u won stop, right? amount of alcohol although low (ard 11%), if keep drinking and dun stop, u see u bcome jackie chan in drunken fist anot la! haha... btw, i like this wine too... best served chilled... even best served half frozen... like ais kacang (direct translation ice nut but it's actually a malaysian dessert)...Taken in the bus... may not be clear... this are vines of grapes... the grapes are actually plucked... so, can't see any here... too bad~~ there're actually miles and miles of vines here... all facing the same side... cuz of certain factors like fairly distributed sunlight and so on...Ok... aftr trying without buying (typical Malaysian)... cuz expensive mar... we student only lei... but frankly speakin, i kinda regret not buying lo! ish~~~ anw, we went to the second stop, the Wine Cellar... as u can see, the ceiling's reli low... i nearly knocked my head... aiks! for the first time i feel so tall... haha... -_-||| well, this place isn't only a winery.. they also sell oils, toppings, shots (gin, vodka etc) and there's a restaurant too... nice eh?! haha...Didn't try all la... if not wil mabuk gila (more drunk than very drunk)!! but well, eventually i tried 4 to 5 types la... haha... oh and Hayden (the guy who's with my tour) told me that Australians actually drink wine with spicy Malaysian or Thai food... hmm~ i can imagine drinking wine in mamak stall where i's eating a plate of..... prata with sambal and dhal?? haha... anw, i think he said chardonnay... 4got dy...Next is the olive oil tasting... haha... dun be a noob and think u can drink olive oil like wine, from the glass... haha!! (no offence ya... juz a joke..) u dip bread into it and eat the bread... haha... westerners actually dip their bread into oil... i was like "har?! serious bo??" and Mrs. Hayden told me "Yea, I actually kinda like eating bread with olive oil. Maybe u should try it" and i went "hmm~ ok, no problems"... *the previous conversation contains a lot of tokok tambah (extra stuffs is added and doesn't exist)*... anw, i tried some of the oil... they have black pepper ones, chilli ones, lime ones and many other flavoured olive oils.... i like chilli one... tsate just like mild chilli oil... hehe...More oils to try... flavoured rice bran oil... hehe... oh and they even sell vinegar... haha... nearly 4got to mention it...Peking roast duck... oh, man... it makes me even more hungry... mmmm~~ yum yum... but well, i'm not gonna eat u, lil' fella... haha... aiya~ no choice la... near lunch time dy mar... tat's y i so hungry lo...Anw, aftr stayin in the Wine Cellar for a while, we decided to come out to breathe some fresh air... hehe... take some photos too... Group photo!! frm bottom left, Mr Peking-roast-duck-to-be, up to me, Ben with his stylo hairdo, Li Ying and her nicely matched striped blue shirt, the cool looking Angeline and our one and only 2 yrs older than us Chin Kiat... hehe... oops~~Close-up... frm left, me, Ben, Li Ying and Angeline...After finish taking photos, we went in again to try the shots! haha... this here is Butterscotch wine and Butterscotch schnapps... the top layer is the Butterscotch wine... it has a creamy taste and both are sweet tasting... so, another dangerous liquor.... the reason they call this a shot is cuz u shud drink it in one go... or in other words, one shot la... After that, finally the time I've been waiting for... LUNCH!!! haha... sorry, my stomach... shud not have let u growl so long... anw, i found this outside the reastaurant...Izit familiar anyone?? hehehe.... if u dun understand, feel free to ask... can ask Choon Seng... can ask Clarence, can ask Jack too... hahaha... ok, back to business... we went to Allan Scott Wines and Estates Ltd. to have our lunch.. the restaurant is called Twelve Trees Vineyard restaurant...Li Ying outside the restaurant...My turn to posing posing a bit (pardon my grammar... but can't do anythg dy... Malaysian mar! haha)...
The setting of the restaurant actually kinda resembles Mexican... nice eh?
Hmm.... wat to eat lei?? aiz... all oso cost a bomb la... only see the bomb u ordered is C4 or nuclear bomb lo....The menu... open and see it... they have German BANGERS... hehehe... u see what i see??? -_-||| pardon my crudeness please... haha... who cares?! =PIf not mistaken, Li Ying, Siew Ping and Angeline had this... nice hor?? seafood lei... muz b a nuclear bomb... but in fact, mine's a nuclear bomb la... more expensive than theirs...This is mine la... i shared with Ben... so, this is actually half the share... it's lamb and it's so tender, so tasty~~ hmm!! After meals, we went to try some sparkling wine... haha... it's juz wine plus carbonate la... so, it's fizzy... over here, we tried smthg else that's new... a rosè, which according to my friend is a mixture of red and white wine... hmm~~ tasted like normal red wine though... haha...Had a game of chess shortly after... hehe... didn't finish playing as it started to rain... aiz~Then the next stop... Cloudy Bay Winery... hehe... nice place... just like a living room lo~ tried 3 to 4 types of wine here... plus i took cheese biscuits too... it goes with the wine... haha... Group photo!! haha... from left, Choon Seng, Li Ying behind Ben, Siew Ping, Angeline and i'm standing... =) i love group photos...This is where they keep the wine to let it mature for bout 15 to 18 months... from left, Siew Ping, Angeline, me and Choon Seng... this is in Cloudy Bay...Here's Paul, out tour guide... hehe... he's really friendly and he's from New South Wales, i think... i hao bu rong yi (with difficulty) then can take a photo with him lo~~ he's kinda reluctant at first cuz he thinks he's not important... but well, my words actually seduced him... erm... is tat a correct word to use?? hmm~ sounds wrong though... haha...This is to let u all estimate how high a vine is... hehe... me and Angeline...Seriously i dun think u all will believe it!! the next stop is Huia.... i was like OMG?! we're goin to Huia?? haha... Choon Seng with Chin Kiat approaching...I wasn't sleeping la... haha... was just resting... had 3 to 4 types of wine here though... stil not drunk... no worries... hehe...Huia is a family winery... in other words, a small scale winery... but it's quite well-known lo... the wine tastes nice too... they produce riesling, chardonnay, pinot noir etc etc.... and this is where they produce their wine... using stainless steel... hehe...Sadly but happily, the last stop... Forrest Estate... this winery is actually started by doctors... incredible eh? haha... here, they use chemistry to test and produce wine... cool eh?! both the husband and wie are doctors but the wife is a medical doctor while the husband specializes in chemistry... with doctorate... they even created their own wine... one of em is called Doctor's Riesling... tried it and it tastes nice lei~ haha... smells gud too... Group photo again!! haha...The scenery outside this winery is amazing too... just look at this....Pat pat!! ur zer zer ar... haha.. this doggie not as obedient le... only know how to bark at us... =(Well, this is the end of our wine tour dy la... haha... we were dropped off in front of the train station where we parked our cars... and i noticed this... Kumho tyres... really gud tyres lei... haha!!We went straight to Nelson aftr tat... didn't even rest a bit... I know I know.... not gud to drink and drive, right?? haha... but I was not drunk mar... haha... I'm still vy steady lei... btw, guess what time was it when this pic was taken?? it's 6.24pm only.... so dark dy... plus there're no lamp posts at all... creepy to drive alone lei~~~ hehehe... we reached Nelson safely ard 7 to 8 plus i think... shortly aftr, we went for dinner in a chinese takeaway...After dinner, cuz cant find a toilet and the fact that they drank too much, they had to pee... haha... simply find a place to pee la... typical Malaysian small kid.... hehehe...Then they think it's too bright... too embarassed la... so, off the lights and continue.... hahaAfter a long long day of wine tasting and drunk driving... i mean nearly drunk driving, we're all tired... so, we rested... and some of us so guai (well-behaved) even brought our laptops and books to do assignment and read... haha...But of course there're also some who play games la... haha... That's an XPS!! i wanted it so badly la.... haha... but in the end, i got an Inspiron 1520... not bad oso... hehe... Angeline is soundly asleep... i think she was quite chi kia (frightened til bcome pale) with my driving skills la... no choice mar... Chin Kiat drove vy vy fast... smore road winding... plus it's dark... cant see a thing oso... haha... well, that pretty much sums up evrythg... haha... I will be back.... haha... to update soon la...
